Colonel Leavenworth’s saddle

I finished new version of website ColonelSaddle.com, which describes beautiful, well done saddle replica. In 1862, Colonel Jesse Leavenworth’s saddle was considered the most expensive saddle made in the U.S.A.  The military style saddle was made by Denver saddle maker E. L. Gallatin.  Vaclav Gresak from Czech Republic who is specialist in making custom reproductions of western saddles, holsters, scabbards, whips and other products from leather created this replica. This functional replica has been made under using finest quality leather and 19th century techniques to duplicate the look and feel of the Old West. The saddle featured extensive silver trimming (in this case one and half pound of pure silver), exquisite hand tolled designs of floral patterns and shields and plaited decorations. This saddle is made on wood tree covered by rawhide, upper pieces are made from special ox-hide and edge of cantle is decorated by ox-bone.  It is for sale.

Garage door

Yesterday afternoon I pressed garage door opener button as usual, but door did not open. It was frozen to the concrete floor of the garage, and force from the opener motor broke two upper rivets. Today I was able to fix it with two screws instead of rivets, with washers from both sides of sheet metal. I fastened square nuts well. It was done before my guest came, and I could do job networking.

Fireproof your job

Donna Rosato writes in Money about six field-tested strategies for job:

  1. Make sure higher-ups know you by solving problems and taking on high-profile projects.
  2. Share client leads or ideas to generate revenue even if that’s not part of your responsibilities.
  3. Hang out with the people the boss respects most. The halo of their good reputation may extend to you.
  4. Keep on top your advances in your field and expand your expertise beyond your core area.
  5. Look for problem spot that you can help fix. And pitch on whenever extra hands needed.
  6. Volunteering to take a pay cut during industrywide downturn can make you look like hero.

Self-Assesment

I did my self assesment on pages of www.uimn.org. I see myself in positive light. Minnesota’s Unemployment Insurance program requires to report job search progress.
Four weeks after completing and submitting Work Search Plan, they require to evaluate how I’m doing and what obstacles I see to my job search success. I should report each job search activity and barrier you have identified.

Hockey Pizza

Rochester Youth Hockey Association (RYHA) has annually fundraiser to support hockey in Rochester. Collected money are used to subsidize ice time cost. This benefits every player by keeping registration fees to a minimum. Today was the first sale day, it end January 24th. Pickup and first delivery day is February 24th. My son was able sell some pizzas, breads sticks & soups in our neighborhood, but he did not reach $200 minimum sale yet. But it was good start, and it was nice to talk to neighbors.
